What Parents Are Saying

Parents from the China Milk Issue group have agreed to share their thoughts on why they had their children

tested for evidence of melamine exposure.

"I feel as though it's better to know now than wait until something becomes a problem."

General adoption date for child (mm/yyyy):

April 2007

Age of child at adoption:  12 Months

Symptoms or asymptomatic:  Asymptomatic

Reasons for testing:  Peace of mind

Tests that were done:  UA, Blood, Ultrasound Kidney & Bladder

Results:  All negative

" At least do a renal ultrasound. If your doctor refuses to write the prescription, go to another doctor.

I am concerned about the wide-spread of contamination in China's food supply. I am Chinese who grew up in the US. For years my parents have read about contaminated food supply in China. They had often warned me not to buy any food that is made in China. I thought they were overly cautious, but I tried to avoid food from China anyway. Now that thenews of melamine broke, I can't imagine that people will go to the extend in poisoning little babies. But then again, the US government's insistence in injecting little babies with Thimerosal AFTER it is linked to neural damages is just as appalling (even though it is banned by several other countries.) It is all about greed. Money vs. other people's lives. We love our children, and we want to protect them from all harms. We are helpless to prevent anything like this from happening in the future. The most we can do is to educate ourselves as much as possible."
